This amazing little log cabin sits not far off the road near Glenelg, Maryland. I wish I knew its history … but it seems to have been there a long time and to have undergone enough repairs to at least keep it standing.

Image taken in July of 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Shutter speed 1/125, aperture f/5.6, exp. 0.33, iso 640. The original image was duplicated twice in Photoshop CS4 to evals of +/ 2 and popped into Photomatix Pro for an hdr treatment, then back to Photoshop for a bit of Orton. Then more tweaking with dodging and burning and levels and curves.

LOVELY!!! I actually wish I had a little get-away just like it! XXSUEXX

  • Hi Sue!!!! Oh, I wouldn’t be so sure … when I first pulled the car over and walked back, there were black birds, about the size of Buicks, heading into that top story window!!! LOL!!!! They were much too big for crows, so I’m guessing they were vultures. I don’t EVEN want to KNOW what they were doing in there!!!!!! HHAHAH!!!

Beautiful Lois and such lovely greenery…..looks awesome !!

  • Hey Sean, thank you so much!!!! I actually had to tone the green down … it was waaaaay too rich … I think I may have left the polarizer on from a previous shoot … but I thought the golds added in gave it a better look. We’ve had so much rain and snow last year and this year that everything’s amazingly green!!!! Glad you liked the final results!!

Beautiful! You have done amazing work on this to move it into a fantasy fairytale dreamland. Fixer-Upper indeed!

  • Hiiii Faul, dear!!! Thank you … I have a whole series of these from the shoot that day, but they were just too green. It took a bit of tinkering, but I think this one’s worth looking at. I’m so glad you enjoyed it, hon!!!! Big hugzz!!

Great shot Lois and a real dreamy treatment. Looks like you are imagining that building whilst having a lovely dream. Superb work as always.

  • Gary, thank you!!!!! It seemed to call for something a little different … a nudge to take it back to the past … so glad you enjoyed the final version!!!

Really is best viewed larger—beautiful—love that you put in all your post edits—fantastic work Lois!!!

  • thanks so much, sweetie!!!! i wish I could say that when I put an image in Photoshop I know exactly what I want to do with it, but that wouldn’t be the truth!!!! I just get going and the image itself sort of takes over and lets me know when I’m done!!!!! Then it’s always a bit of a challenge to remember all the steps I took!!!!
