This image is also available at Lois Bryan at fine art america in an exciting variety of framing and matting options.

On a quick trip up to the mountains in November of ‘09 I took the long way, going off of I-70 and onto Route 30 west toward Bedford, Pa from the Chambersburg area. Somewhere along there I discovered this amazing barn at about 10:00 am. In front and closer to the road was a neat and trim farmhouse and I’ll never forget the sight of the farmer standing on his porch, surveying the beautiful morning, coffee cup in hand. Truth to tell, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky … it was a glorious crisp fall morning. The clouds, which I snapped on a beautiful cloud day not far from my home in Montgomery County, Maryland, added a bit of interest to the shot. I’d like to dedicate this image to the Very Great BigD to whom I must credit the sunbeams.

The barn image was taken with the Nikon D300 at shutter 1/320, aperture f/6.3, exp. -0.33, iso 250, pattern metering. The clouds were taken with the Nikon D300, shutter 1/160, f/13.0, exp. 0.00, iso 200, pattern metering.

Post work … extensive. There are so many versions of this thing in my computer with so many different sky-scapes … what a relief it will be to shove them all over to the external hard-drive finally, lol!!!! I’ve been tinkering with this one for quite a while … so name it, and I probably did it. Among other things, there’s Photomatix hdr in there from a single image, duplicated in Photoshop to evals of + / -2; there’s a gradient, a sepia, and a motion blur layer, at some point it got stuck in CapNx2 for sharpening … and … stuff.
