This little fantasy image is a compilation of 8 images, 6 of my own and two textures.
The background image was taken at Chappell Field on the climb to the top of Blue Knob Mountain (seen in the distance under the deer’s nose), in Claysburg, Pennsylvania (see Almost Home) in the summer of 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens.
The deer, which I believe to be a Chital , I found as I was wandering around some old country roads one bright sunny day late last spring. It was in a fenced area on a farm not far from Lovely, Pennsylvania, at the base of Blue Knob. There were a number of unusual animals there, this was just one. It was also snapped with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens.
The three butterfly images were all taken on top of Blue Knob Mountain in August of 2009 … I was lucky enough to catch a flock (?) of monarchs in their migration. What a day that was!!! Their images were all taken with the Nikon D300 as well, but with the 70-300mm vr Nikon lens. The cardinal was snapped in my own backyard with the Nikon D300 and the 70-300mm vr Nikon lens.
All of the above were combined in Photoshop and treated to a lot of fun tweaking. I like to think that, though each of these images was taken separately, this friendly little encounter COULD have actually taken place!!
Thanks to Princess of Shadows at Deviant Art for the textures!!
