Windows to The Past by Lois Bryan

Featured in Old & Rusty February 9, 2009.

This is one of the side walls of the wonderful old Jackson’s Mill that’s being restored near Breezewood, PA, located on Jackson’s Mill Road. The Jackson’s Mill Covered Bridge is also at this location.

Not a clue what this fascination of mine with windows and doors is all about, lol!!!

This image was taken with the Nikon D40x, using the 18-135mm Nikon lens. Post processing included the Orton Effect and some cropping.

Very nice treatment, Lois. Well done.
  • Hi Mick!!! Thank you … boy, sometimes it really pays to mess around with the various treatments we can use!!! It really made this one a lot more interesting, I thought!!

Lois, maybe your facination with doors and windows comes from needing an entrance and exit! Could be one of those many past lives that we all are supposed to have had! lol! I love the treatment here, color wise they look smashing together! The broken windows give the image a lot of character along with the brown siding! Dee

  • Boy, Dee, you and i could sit down and have a looooong chat about that one!!! And you might be right!!! There are a couple of things about me that are simply non-negotiable, that I’ve always attributed to a past life!!!! I can’t STAND turtle neck shirts / sweaters. Don’t laugh!! I hear you laughing!! It’s TRUE!! Truth to tell, I was probably hung in a previous life!! And HEIGHTS … oh … don’t even get me started!!!! So the door / window thing … yep … it falls into place for sure!!!! Thanks for your note, hon … always love hearing from ya!!! Hugzz!!

  • LOL!!! Hiiii David!!!! I wish I had painted it … funny thing is, the reason I got into photography in the first place was I was going to start painting again … went out one fine summer afternoon to take some pictures, for painting inspiration, and I got stuck loving the photography thing!!!
