Ahhhh Peter … thank you so so much. I have such empathy for the sticks and bricks of our forefathers’ hard work. I was in the building industry for years, and architecture of any kind calls my name. But when I see old barns, and these wonderful old country homes falling into disrepair it breaks my heart a little because it truly is a sign of the times … and the ending of an era. I wouldn’t presume to take on the responsibility or crusade of “capturing” these magnificent structures for any lofty purposes of saving their likeness for generations to come. My endeavors are far more immediate. I see them … I love them … and I want to do something to let the world know that they were here and that they did matter.

Lina, honest and truly … it’s just photoshop!!!! Seriously just working the fiddly bits on the sliders and adjustments!!!! Then adding several textures … I’ve noted two of the sties I used … and even used one of my own … I’m trying to build up a texture library. Honest and true … nothing fancy. If I get really wild and crazy I always make note of what I did in the working title … I didn’t even make any notes on this one!!!!!

Ahh Joak … thank you my darling!!!! We’re in a middle of a big change here in the states. Not long ago, family farms fed us all and were a time honored and honorable way of life. But big corporations have taken over … and in many places we find all that’s left of our beautiful family farming: old barns falling down … wonderful old farm houses standing empty. So … it’s a favorite photographic subject of mine. Sometimes I like to add a bit of atmosphere to increase the emotional impact.

Gene, thank you!!!!! It was a puzzle to balance between the “dark” side and to try to still lend a feeling of sad nostalgia. I’m so glad you liked it!!!
