Another little toad shot … I think this might even be my old buddy from a few previous sessions, based on the star on his little throat!!! Anyhow, he was again very cooperative, bless his heart!!!
Image take with the Nikon D300 and the Nikon 60mm macro/micro lens on July 19, 2009. Shutter was 1/400, aperture was f/10.00, exp. -.33, iso 640, spot metering.
Other than cloning off a bit of ?? ... image is “as is.”

He’s so tiny!!!! Was the flower swaying? This is AMAZING photography!!!!!
You’re a genius!
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Robin!!!!! Yes, the little darlings are still only the size of a fingernail … well … maybe a thumbnail, now!!! And this particular flower wasn’t one of the huge ones … they’re just now leafing out properly … nope … no swaying!! So glad you enjoyed it, hon!!! And thanks so much for the fave!!!! Muchly appreciated!!! Hugzzz!!

Lois Bryan replied
Hiii John!!!! No, I didn’t pay him, but I did save his life from the pool (AGAIN!) ... I know I’m kidding myself when I say this, but I can’t help thinking this particular guy is getting used to me (from previous shoots) ... if I’m right, he’s always very cooperative and would have hung around even longer if I wanted!!!

Lois..the reason I asked about the flower (if it was swaying) was that he’s got to weigh something and any little breeze would move the flower, making your shot even harder to get. You must have VERY steady hands! The past few times I’ve shot that kind of flower (is it Rudbeckia?) the wind’s been blowing and they sway all over the place
—I end up having to sway with them to get the shot…LOLanyway, kudos on the amazing work!!!!!!
Lois Bryan replied
You sweetheart … no, he weights nothing … and this particular flower isn’t one of those top heavy things that bobs around … the stalk is pretty sturdy. And no wind … it was early morning … no wind at all. It’s a black-eyed susan … is that the same thing as rudbeckia??? But thank you, thank you for your lovely note!!!!!!! hugzzz!!!
Tallow
I think you better put the little guy on the payroll Lois or you will have the unions after you :-)

Hi Leslie!!! The baby frogs in my yard all congregate in the pool at night … especially after a rain … and it’s my job to scoop them out in the mornings. Sometimes I bring my camera … lol … big fun!!!!!

rosedew
I have a real fear of frogs and toads! This shot could change things!!
Lois Bryan replied
Oh, Rose … honest and truly there’s no need to be afraid of these guys … especially the bumpy ones like my buddy here … he’s as gentle and easy going as can be!!! This morning there was one like this in the pool which I rescued, and which was perfectly happy to let me pick him up. If I’d had the camera, I’m sure he’d have let me take some shots. But there was also a frog in the pool .. the ones we get are not bumpy, are smooth skinned and striped. They are NOT as friendly. Are VERY hoppy and skittish. I scooped him out of the pool, too, and sent him on his way, but there’s no way I could have gotten him to pose!!!

Hello dear Mike!!!! Thank you!!!!
TheBlindHog
That is amazing, Lois. When I first saw the thumbnail I though he must have been photoshoped and I thought, what a cool idea. That he actually is that small and chose that platform upon which to sit makes the shot all the more amazing, in my opinion.
Lois Bryan replied
Hiiii BH!!!!! oh, hon, I wish I could tell you that he hopped up there all by himself, but the truth is, I scoop these little guys out of my pool every morning and set them free. Sometimes they’re pretty pooped after a night swimming in the pool and a morning fighting the current in the skimmer … so when I get them out they’re fairly docile. I’ve been “posing” them … I THINK this particular one fairly regularly … every once in awhile for the past couple of weeks. Just for a few minutes, then I see them off safely under the leaves. So, no photoshopping … but yes posed, lol!!!!!
AnnDixon
This is so beautiful, where’s its crown ?? xx
Lois Bryan replied
LOL!!! Hiiiii Annie, he wasn’t wearing his crown that day!!!!
TheBlindHog
Even better, Lois. He looks perfectly at ease there – if Hollywood ever needs a frog wrangler, you’re the natural choice.
Lois Bryan replied
oh, you’ve got me laughing now … Frog Wrangler I like … just … not … Frog Whisperer!!! ROFL!!!
LudaNayvelt
OMG, you really have them in the area. Not sure , if I would like it, but excellent subject for photography , and he on the perfect spot
Lois Bryan replied
Thank you, sweetie … we had a huge thunderstorm last night and the frogs were all singing so loudly it was hilarious! Our pool was filled with the things this morning so … yep … I took a few more snaps, lol!!!!! Couldn’t resist!!
