This one is a bit of a commentary on the state of higher education in the world today. I have a lot of sympathy for the kids coming out of college, their shiny new diplomas clutched in their hands and no job in sight. I feel just as bad for those families who can no longer afford to give their children a college education at all.

Image taken at the campus of UMBC, University of Maryland, Baltimore County on July 6, 2009 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Compilation with an image of the sky I took on April 12, 2008 in my backyard (yes it really was that crazy color!) ... texture courtesy of CGTextures.com.

  • Lois Bryan replied

Oh, Karen … you so “get” where I was going with this. I have a companion piece that I’ll probably upload tomorrow or the next day … and with your permission I’d like to use your “Stairs To Nowhere” idea for its title. I was actually struggling over what to call the second one. How fortuitous that you stopped by with your wonderful comment and idea. I think you so much for your understanding and your kind support and encouragement. You are a true lady and a true friend, dear girl!!!!! Hugzz!!!

    Lynda McDonald

what a unique piece of photoart Lois !,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it’s so unusual and different that i’m dumbfounded for words right now, i’m also counting minutes until company arrives, lol…..............this piece reminds me so much of the type of work my oldest brother would do, so i just gotta luv it

  • Lois Bryan replied

Lynda … what a lovely comment!!! Thank you, sweetie!!! It is unusual because the place is unusual. It’s built on the side of a hill and many of the class and admin buildings, built in this amazing almost-but-not-quite 1920’s Art Deco feel, are on three terraces. And many of the buildings are interconnected about two or three stories up via glassed walkways. I can’t wait to go back again!!!
