The Nikon D-300, whooopeeee! It’s gorgeous, love the textures! Beautifully captured and love the treatment. So, how do you like your new camera?

  • Lois Bryan replied

LOL!!! Thanks, sweetie!!!!! My intention was to post a straight photog piece from the new camera first … but I got to fooling around with this one and decided it was ok to post. I took it while stretched out with the camera, the booklet, and all the extra thingies all around me, lol!! I was just snapping at anything in the room!!! I LOVE the D300!!! Barbara, everything is so convenient … and makes sense!!!! It’ll take me forever to really understand it … but it seems very intuitive to me at this point!!!!! FABULOUS little critter!!!!!

I’ve had my D300 for 18 months, Poopsie.. and I can tell you that there is still TONS of things I don’t know about it. The 400-page instruction manual was the tiniest bit intimidating! But you will easily love this camera… : ) Congratulations!

  • Lois Bryan replied

I hear ya … I read up on this a lot … which is why DH knew what I was hoping for … that and the slurp marks I kept leaving on the shop window when we’d pass, lol. And one of the things I keep reading is all the little nuances and tricks that you keep learning about. Honestly, tho, just from a preliminary point of view I’m blown away by the intuitive placement of the main controls. VERY well designed. And there really is a much better final product .. so much crisper (which of course you can’t tell here, lol)!!!

  • LavenderMoon

wooohooo! This is really lovely, Lois :) congrats on the new cam…I love my D300. If you ever get up to visit Jan, though, you’ve got to be careful….she kept eyeing mine and I had to sleep with one eye open! LOL! :D

  • Lois Bryan replied

HAHAHAH!!!! OMG!!! You have me busting out laughing!!!! TOOO funny … yes, I’m sure that Jan is a sneaky one … still laughing here … thank you, thank you!!!! I am just amazed at how intuitive all the controls are!!!!!! I’m having a bit of trouble controlling camera shake when I’m using the 70-300 full out though … lol … must work on my muscles I guess .. time to head back to the old gym!!!!! haha!! That’ll work well for me when I visit Jan, too, right???

  • Victoria Jostes

    Victoria Jostes

great treatment of your d300 shot! it almost looks like an oriental painting.

  • Lois Bryan replied

Hey Victoria!!!! Thank you sooo much!!!! I really had fun with the pp on this one … I isolated the background, then inversed, then added several layers of just the flowers and vase at different opacity levels … made for a crazy dof look … then whipped out the old Wacom tablet and played with the eraser. I swear, the pp is as much fun as the photographing, isn’t it?????

    LudaNayvelt

I was waiting to see your D300, and missed the posting yesterday, I been reading for while all yours replies and a little be on internet about your new baby, I only can guess from 400 page manual, that it’s loaded with features. Great work, but you already know this, since I favored while ago

  • Lois Bryan replied

Oh, Luda, it’ll take me forever to fully understand this camera … but what fun!!!!!! I’ve got the basics … and am just amazed at the ease with which you can flip your shutter and aperture and iso and wb around!!! SO quick and easy!!!!!! Thanks, hon!!!! Hugzzz!!!

  • LudaNayvelt

    LudaNayvelt

Lois, honestly, I think that any camera is easier than entry level D40/D60 , but if you learned this baby, another just peace of cake . Are you going to keep D40x? or selling?

  • Lois Bryan replied

you might be right … the smaller versions have features, but they’re tucked away a bit, lol!!!! Oh yes, am keeping the D40x. I’ve always wanted to have two good cameras … one for back up … and also .. if out trekking around … less lens switching!!!!
