SOoooo Cute Lois:-)
Lois Bryan replied
Thanks so much, Linda!!!!
jujubean
love the softness. I hope you had a long lens!!!
Lois Bryan replied
LOL … thank you … I was using the 18-200 and this was taken full out at the 200. I deliberately didn’t bring the 70-300 as I wanted to be able to showcase the whole scene. Plus, I was inside the car … safe and sound!!!
Béla Török
What a lovely image, dear Lois! I hope it wasn’t dengerous!
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Bela!!!! Thank you so much!! Well, yes and no?? I was safe … but the circumstances surrounding this aren’t great. I’m probably going to use this image and several others I took in a push to get some people to do a better job taking care of their trash. Someone is going to get hurt … and that’ll only end badly for the poor bear, too.
Scott d'Almeida
fantastic
Lois Bryan replied
Hey Scott … thank you!!
brian pendrey
brilliant shot
Lois Bryan replied
Thanks, Brian!!!!!!
LudaNayvelt
Ok, Lois, I am ready to hear full story, If this bear in the wild area?
Great Image, and Soooooooooooo bright and vivid!
Lois Bryan replied
Luda … GORGEOUS new avatar, you beauty-queen you!!!!!!! Well, the full story is coming … but yes, he’s in the “wild” ... as in … not in a zoo or in a cage or anything. He roams our mountain … he and who-knows-how-many others!!!!
Karen Moore
I don’t normally like work that is not right from the camera but this one stand out . I love this black bear against the green. Well Done !!
Lois Bryan replied
Thanks so much, Karen. To get a spectacular shot right out of the camera is always my ultimate goal … but I’m AWFULLY picky … and so that doesn’t happen all that often for me. Plus, if you feel strongly about it, then never EVER start playing around in Photoshop … it’s totally addictive, lol!!!!! In this particular shot … what you’re seeing of the bear is actually the hdr level. The Orton is on the greenery only.
naturelover
Just love the OTT treatment- Wonderful picture-great stuff as usual Lois!!
Lois Bryan replied
thanks, sweetie!!!!! Tickled that you enjoyed him!!!!!
Lynda McDonald
and here comes Lois’s bear eeeeeeeeeee, nice photos ! and of course a good story, lol, wtg !
Lois Bryan replied

billfox256
Actually he looks like a peeping tom. What were you doing? A terrific shot. Bill
Lois Bryan replied
haha … Bill … you’ll have to wait for the next installment for that part of the story!!!!!! Thanks for visiting!!!!!
LYN EVANS
Love it Lois…he looks sooooo cute huddle up in the bushes.
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
If Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
He wasn’t Fuzzy Wuzzy ….ha ha…I rember that one from school.
Lois Bryan replied
LOL!!!!! Yes, yes, that’s the one!!!! Every child’s first riddle!!!!! I LOVED it … still remember puzzling over that one!!!!!
Lois Bryan replied
... ours went:
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear … Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair … Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn’t fuzzy, was he! LOL!!!!
LYN EVANS
LOL….lol…..oh they were the days….ha ha
jacqi
Terrific shot. I always wanted to see a wild bear but never did!
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Jacqi … thank you so much!!! I’m really torn about this … was thrilled to finally get some shots of this guy off … but the circumstances do worry me. Will be posting another shot and more info tomorrow, I guess. I do NOT want to bump into him on one of my mountain rambles, that’s for sure!!!!!! LOL!!!!
robpixaday
WOWEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
It’s a BEAR!!!! And it’s a gorgeous one…...a wonderful portrait of a being we don’t see often in person (I don’t anyway…). FABULOUS!!!
Lois Bryan replied
Hiii sweetie!!!!! Thank you … he does look well fed and well cared for … from other shots I took, my hubby thinks he about 300 lbs, and he has tags in both ears, bless ‘im. Hope he stays out of trouble …
Gina Cormier
Fabulous effects Lois! His eyes are so interesting and kinda scary!! lol
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Gina … Thank you, thank you!!! Yes, his eyes are what really drew me to this particular image …

Lois Bryan replied
Hi Ann!! Thank you, sweetie.
Evita
Wonderful image & treatment !! very cute bear too…. ;D
Lois Bryan replied
Thank you so much, sweetie!!!!!!!!
BarbaraManis
Oh my, oh my! He looks cute but I wouldn’t want to cross him. Excellent capture, Lois. I like the Orton on this one too!
Lois Bryan replied
Very astute, Barbara … Glad you liked the Orton. It’s only on the leaves … the work on the bear is actually the hdr. Notice I didn’t enter him in any of the cute & cuddly groups. I have a great deal of respect for these guys and am worried about the circumstances they are in up there at the moment. My next shot will explain all … bless their hearts!!!
nadine henley
lots of patience and work to get this one, lois – and i can understand the shakily held camera! well done
Lois Bryan replied
Thank you, Nadine … we’ve seen them several times prior to this but either it was too dark or I didn’t have the camera. Looks like 5th time is the charm!!!! Thanks again!!!!
chijude
Oh my goodness. !!! Now there is a special moment. I bet you were holding your breath!! Well done! Glad to know you were in the car!!
Lois Bryan replied
Hey, hon … thank you, thank you!!!!! Yes, holding my breath, trying to calm the dog in the back of the Jeep down, and yelling at my poor husband to quit moving the car … lol … and all this on top of one too many strawberry margaritas … hehe … well, you get the picture …
chijude
I do .. I do!! All you needed to do was invite your bear into your circus!!! Hilarious!
Lois Bryan replied
LOL … ummmm … noooooo!!!!! I hadn’t had THAT many margaritas!!!!!! ROFL ROFL!!!!
Lois Bryan
LavenderMoon
No way…
Lois Bryan replied
... way …
LavenderMoon
I’ve no desire to go back to diapers just yet…
Lois Bryan replied
BWAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!! Well, thanks to all the strawberry margaritas, I was surprisingly calm. Well … no .. not calm … unfearful?? Unfearful-ish? LOL!!!!
LavenderMoon
Unfearish?
I’da been, ‘oops, I crapped my pants’....
Besides, the margaritas would have just made it a LOT easier for him to catch me….
Lois Bryan replied
Sweetie .. I was in the car!!!! We were NOT that close … I was using the 18-200 lens and it was stretched aaaaaalllllll the way out. He’s a very non-aggressive fella … apparently … I’m probably going to write quite a story about this tomorrow with another couple of images … don’t worry … i really wasn’t in any danger. OTHER people may well be … but that’s all part of the story. I’m fine!!!! And the margaritas were WONderful!!!! * hic *
carlosramos
Cool shot and treatment !
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Carlos!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
LavenderMoon
Hahaha.. okay… ‘whew’... : )
Lois Bryan replied
LOL!!!! Hey, I may be crazy, but I’m not toooo stupid!!!!
LavenderMoon
I was just runnin’ with the silliness… if you were that ‘stupid’ you wouldn’t have 20 features in ONE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!
Lois Bryan replied
oooh … ain’t it GREAT to run with the silliness!!!!! LOL!!!! And stupid … maybe … but lucky … OH yeah!!!!!!!!
Beve Brown-Clark
Fabulous post work Lois!! I think this ones a winner!!
Lois Bryan replied
thanks, sweetie … you know me, I wanted to do something a little different!!!!
Shaun Whiteman
Beautiful shot, lovely colours and composition!! Great title btw!!
Lois Bryan replied
Thanks so much, Shaun!!!! glad you enjoyed the image … and the title, too!! I was rethinking that a little while ago .. because the title implies … you know … cuddly and all that … which I personally want people to realize that they’re not, lol!!!!! But oh well!!! Thank you gain!!!!!!!
Heather Rivet...
great one
Lois Bryan replied
Hiiiii Heather!!!!! Thankyou!!!
Virginia Maguire
Wonderful effect with the combination of HDR and Orton. this is a winner. Hopefully it will help with the situation with the bears. We have the same problem here in Colorado.
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Virginia … yes, I know you do!!!! Probably even more so!!!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
Ingz
I saw this and thought of you straight away, excellent as always!! the orton effect was a great choice and it makes the green so lovely and brings out the dark black of your unbelievable bear!! wow…. this is just so wonderful dear Lois xxxx
Lois Bryan replied
thanks so much, sweetie!!! Wildlife shots are always so stark and determinedly straight forward … thought it would be fun to add a bit of the unusual here … also, was going for an emotional impact and thought the softness of the surrounding area contrasted with the hdr of the bear … might be fun. So glad you enjoyed this one!!!!!
Lorraine Parra...
Wow Lois! Fantastic shot of this elusive creature. Wonderful exciting capture for you. However, for me the Orton effect romantacises/Disneyfies (is there such word, lol!) what is a wild animal, and I prefer the straight shot….no surprise there from me eh!! Well done whatever.
Lois Bryan replied
Hello darling darling girl!!!!!! Thank you … lots more to come. I am glad you picked up on the romanticizing of the bear … that was my intent. We have a terrible problem with idiot people leaving trash open in the dumpsters at the condos on the mountain. My goal is to illustrate … with the several shots I’ll post … that these beautiful creatures will be the ones to suffer from our human carelessness. I didn’t want him to appear fluffy-cupcake, nor did I want him to be nasty-scary … not yet. That’s why the contrast of the softening of the Orton to the more feature-filled hdr on the bear. Look into his eyes. See?? Sometimes there is a method to my madness!!!!!
MICKSPIXPHOTOS
Excellent treatment. You gave this a very dreamlike quality. Very nice work.
Lois Bryan replied
thanks, Mick!!!! I’m glad you enjoyed him … have a few others I’ll be posting .. .but they’ll probably be less dreamy … he was a beaut, tho!!!!
BobJohnson
Beautiful Lois,,, Is he looking for lunch???
Bob
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Bob .. .the full story is about to be revealed in another image … I’m just not quite happy with it yet. Truth is, in this image he’s sitting just behind a great big trash dumpster … which some idiot left OPEN!!! So … he knows full well where lunch is!!!! And he’s just about to go jump into it!!!
mlynnd
Very beautiful image and treatment ….. Lynn
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Lynn!!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Rick & Deb Larson
Oh…..I finally found your bear. He looks so cute peeking out of the greenery, well done!! Take Care ~ Rick & Deb ~ :)
Lois Bryan replied
LOL!! Thanks!!!! I’ve got several more … just wish I’d had the new camera … and wish I hadn’t been shaking so badly!!! LOL!!! nomoremargaritasnomoremargaritasnomoremargaritas …
Rick & Deb Larson
LMAO!!!!!! You are starting to sound just like Rick, he has a whispered chant that he says to me…..’Don’t forget to back up.’ (Don’t tell anyone that I told you that…it has to do with launching the boat not taking photos of bears). Take Care ~ Deb ~ :)
Lois Bryan replied
Oh I know about the backing up and the boat!!! Don’t forget … you confided in me!!!!! HAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
Sean Jansen
