A beautiful street in Old Corfu Town, Greece, on a wonderfully hot and sleepy afternoon in July of 2005. Looking closely, you can see the tourists heading our way from down the street.
Handheld image taken with the Olympus C-5000 zoom on July 27, 2005. Shutter 1/250, aperture f/5.6, exposure 0.00, iso 50. In other words, totally automatic and if I’d had to explain what a shutter speed was in those days, I couldn’t have done it!! This image was put through photoshop to remove distracting electrical lines, then popped into Photomatix, single image at +/- 2 eval.

The Photomatix is fun too … but it is tricky!!!! Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I THINK I get it right, and sometimes … not at all, lolol!!!!!

Lois, this looks like a painting. Even when you didn’t know what a shutter speed was, you created masterpieces. Stunning work, love it!
Lois Bryan replied
Ooooh Barbara, how sweet you are!!! But the sad truth is … of all the kazillions of shots I took, not that many are really even fixer-uppers!!! But I am glad a few are … and have finally started getting into them!! WHEEE!!!

This looks wonderful but what is Photomatix? I am learning about PS (gradually) but will I ever understand shutter speed and apertures and stuff?
Lois Bryan replied
Hi sweetie!!! Thanks!!! Photomatix is one of the programs used to create HDR images … here’s a link to the program and they’ll explain what it does really well!! Photomatix . As to shutter speeds and apertures … oh … Lordie .. lol!!!! I ran across a fabulous tutorial / explanation yesterday!!! Let me try to find it for you!!!!
rodsfotos
Such a beautiful street composition Lois, the architecture is so ornate and I very much like the perspective from your chosen viewpoint, so good that the tourists were not all over the place as well, wonderful colours and depth, well captured,
Regards, Rod.
Lois Bryan replied
Hello, hello dear Rod!!! Thank you!!!! Yes, I was so grateful to get a street scene that wasn’t filled up with tourists!!!! And isn’t this a lovely town???
vadim19
Wonderful work! Love the clarity and details!
Lois Bryan replied
Hi Vadim!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Vicki Ferrari
Wonderful photography Lois! Love the colours here! Gorgeous! It is so much fun finding those old photos, aye?!
Lois Bryan replied
It is, Vicki, it is .. only it can be a real heartbreaker too. Most of my travel shots were taken before I knew anything about photography .. and … they were taken with such odd-ball cameras!!! But every so often I find one that I can sort of resurrect!!!
ilpo laurila
Wonderful Lois, really great captured.

Hi Kevin!!!! Thank you!!!!! This is such a beautiful, timeless street!!!!
Edwin Catania
Hey
—very effective HDR—as a general rule I dislike HDR as it projects abnormal colours and light tones-- but when it is applied cautiously it is great-—-———this is a typical well balanced outcome to a professional levelLois Bryan replied
Dear Edwin … you’ve made my day!!!!!! Thank you sooo much!!!!!
Lynda McDonald
oh i missed this beauty !~..............it would be a WONDERFUL postcard representing that area, nice work Lois
Lois Bryan replied
Thank you so much, Lynda!! One of the things about traveling with a large group … as in cruise ships … is trying to either get out ahead of the crowd, or hanging back until after most of them are gone (thus making getting back to the ship before it sails somewhat dicey) ... and this worry was even before I was a camera-junky!!!!!
AmyRalston
Lois so rich with great clarity.
Lois Bryan replied
thank you, Amy!!!!!
Beve Brown-Clark
Gee you must have slipped this one by me! Wonderfully inviting street…lovely colors and so clean!
Lois Bryan replied
Hi sweetie!! Thank you, thank you!!!! It’s from our trip to the Med a few years back … have been going through them and pulling a few out and playing around. SUCH fun!!

sigfusson
Wonderful travel shot Lois. Great angle, time of day and presentation. I could see this one on a postcard or travel magazine article. Cheers, s.
Lois Bryan replied
thanks, Sandra!! The one thing about travel is trying to get to the fun stuff without all the people … so it was either zip ahead of everyone or hang back!!!!
PhotosByG
Thats a magnificent photo Lois of a great street scene. I reckon I could just look at your photos and it will save me a fortune on airfares. LOL. Cheers, Graham.
Lois Bryan replied
... laughing … thanks, Graham!! I’m having a lot of fun going through some old shots … next thing you know I’ll be digging around in the cardboard boxes upstairs and scanning those old snaps in and tinkering away!!!! WHEEE!!!!

Lios, I think this is one of my all time favorites on redbubble. simply amazing. I think I need to get rid of the Nikon and buy myself an Olympus C-5000 :-)
Lois Bryan replied
oh dear heavens!!!! don’t do THAT!!!!! ROFL!!!! If you could see the original washed out mess this was … trust me … don’t do that!!!! This the product of endless, endless processing!!!! I just mentioned the cloning of wires and the hdr … but there was tons more!!!!! That shadow from the buildings on the left that you see?? Nearly drove me bonkers, lol!!!!!
Lois Bryan replied
But … THANK you so so so much!!!!
