thank you, Ken!!! I hear ya on the lightening. Interesting you should suggest that … this image started out waaay darker. I hadn’t realized how late in the afternoon it was getting as I was shooting. When I got them set up on the computer, I was pretty disappointed, but I could see that the detail was still there. I upped the exposure and made a few other adjustments … being VERY careful not to bring in too much noise. Kind of a delicate balance. I don’t mind the background being darker than the bird … helps the bird stand out. But if there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s a washed out image … so if anything, my images probably will be a bit on the bright or darker side!!! Thanks so much for your comment … nothing I like better than a discussion about photography!!!!!

Thanks so much, dear!!!!! The way the setting sun caught the last gold leaves on the tree in the background is what set this shoot apart for me, too. Otherwise, I probably would have tanked it. Putting it through a mask and filter was a bit of a risk, but I think the added texture it gave it was fun!!! Thank you again!!!!!

Actually, Ted … my birdies are pretty good about hanging around. They’re used to coming to my house for their meals … and they aren’t toooooo flighty!!!! It is better when I can shoot in brighter light, though … always best to use a faster shutter on these characters.
