There is a hell of a lot of excitement going on over the Nikon D90, Canon 50D, and the Canon 5D MkII.

Out of all of them, the Nikon is the best buy. In the US you can get the body only for under $1000 while the Canon is much more expensive, and with less features.

The beauty of the Nikon is the HD video options. Lots of people are now selling stock videos and making a good buck.

I am a Canon owner, but I would urge you to hang off. Canon will eventually be forced to drop the price on the 50D to maintain market share. You will see hundreds of dollars in rebates on offer.

The same for the Canon 5DMkII. Canon sales over the past 4 years shows the same trend. A 10% reduction in average sales price following a 3 month period, and a further 10% after 6 months.

The huge sensor on the 5D is a great selling point, but Canon engineers have made no secret of their dissapointment the sensor they wanted in the camera was not allowed. This signals a huge upgrade for the 1Ds.

And the best bit, the old Canon 5D will soon become available for around $1200.
