I spent the entirety of my youth and early adulthood believing that in order to feel complete and whole one needed a prince charming. Looking back I can forgive myself for being so eager, for not believing and loving myself enough. It wasn’t until I entered my thirties until the light bulb went off realizing that all I ever needed was myself, that it is within.
In order to feel loved and whole, one has to be able to give that to themselves. I am beyond grateful for this lesson. I have several friends now who I can see making the same mistakes I have made, going without, traveling across the country, spending all their time and money in hopes of ‘impressing’ a sexual partner.
If one is comfortable in their own skin and skillfully has learned how to love themselves, whatever is meant to be will be. It will come to you.
It took me a lifetime to fall in love with my independence and strengths. I wouldn’t give them up for the world, nor would I ever repeat a pattern from the past.
