Many months ago I visited Mud Lake in Ottawa, Ontario and was beside myself with amazement. The Canadian geese were sheltering their babies from the rain. This goose here had 26 chics under both of her wings. I LOVE how protective they are of their children. I wish humans could be a little more like animals, we have so much to learn from them♥

That little gosling is very cute indeed and, you are correct, Canada Geese make excellent parents…very sweet image, Heather.

  • awe, thank you Kat! I think you are the only person besides my best friend and I who have this special place in our hearts for Canada Geese, they are wonderful, beautiful, profound creatures. I love your love for them♥

Oh wow Heather that is a wonderful surprise; this is so precious! Humans certainly can learn from animals – some are though. When I was interning Japan 5 years ago our office had a sailing party once. Before the sailing one of my co-workers said to me that if I get cold he’ll give me his shirt, which was sweet – but being that I’m from Canada which is generally colder than Japan, it seemed I was withstanding the cold more than the other females lol (the men seemed be able to withstand it I think).

  • awe, thanks so much Mui-Ling!!! I love the stories you share with me:) must have been fantastic to go sailing!!! I’ve never been.

What a wonderful image and story! You are so right about animals having a lot to teach us. We had a pond with Canadian geese near one of our homes and I was always fascinated by them.

  • Thank you sweet Angie!!! you have a pond with Canadian geese near your home? aren’t they amazing? I love how fiercely protective and territorial they are! They hide nothing. The sounds they make crack me up each and every time, I never tire of their ‘honking’ :)
