last week upon awakening i glanced outside of my patio window. i seen this beautiful soul doing some sort of exercise and meditation. It was early, there was a lot of noise and traffic. This soul was untouched by it all, at peace with nature, at one with themself. I was instantly inspired and in awe. It looked as if they were dancing a slow motion elderly version of Thomas Yorke’s (radiohead) ‘lotus flower’. I remember commenting to my best friend ‘Thomas could be sued for copying. lol’
I sat staring, in beautiful disbelief, working up my courage to do something I would never do. I went down and asked this lovely soul if I could please take their photo. I discovered this beautiful soul was an elderly Asian woman. Her smile and her bright shinning eyes were like gems, I don’t think I have ever seen such a beautiful light radiate from anyone.
I snapped a couple photographs, and returned to my apartment. All the while we exchanged a huge smile and wave while I was up in my palace, and she was down in nature. My heart felt so heavy, in the best of ways, consumed and inspired.
I went frantically looking through all of my big prints…trying to find her something of equal inspiration. I gave myself red flags because most of my photography is dark. It seemed like forever until I found something that was of light, but I did. my tree piece entitled ‘spirit’ 11X14. I went back down, heart pounding, palms sweating (yes, i’m a hermit/closet geek) and gave it to her, we shook hands, she didn’t speak a stitch of English, and that smile and her eyes are forever stitched into my soul.
I learned a lot from this beautiful woman. I have yet to learn how to apply it to my life…but I am trying.
All we need is within, is ourselves. There is no need to move, for money, materialism, hatred…
What is more inspiring…looking at a woman of history in nature in bliss with the sun shinning? or staring at a gothic person playing with fake blood (that was my photography)
This woman has inspired me to try harder, be better, never stop dreaming. I only wish I knew her language.
Each day I will look out my window for her.
The message…no language, no words are needed in understanding another pure and beautiful human heart.
if any of her images sell, all profit i will give to her
she is a goddess, a woman, a warrior, most likely a mother, a wife, a sister.
