Thank you.
Yea, i thought you would have been off for a few days. If your on at 5am, then you are addicted! It’s still wednesday right now.

Brrrr, that looks cold! Yup, Santa woke me up and I couldn’t go back to sleep. I figured what better way to spend time at 1:30 a.m. – RB!
LocustFurnace replied
Thats what a few seem to be doing when woken by St. Nick.
It looks cold, but I like the cold weather :)
Countrygirl
wow. That is beautiful! I love it
LocustFurnace replied
Thank you. There are 3 falls on this river right next to each other. There is a train track behind (not seen) that was once the tallest in the world.
rosincore
wow, such a great shot. Looks almost like its been edited. Wish i had snow and ice around here. its almost 80 on christmas day. Again nice pictures.
LocustFurnace replied
No editing. Just a MEAN stack. Shot various shots of the same image in rapid mode. Then stack them ontop of each other, run a algorithm on them to remove noise. It helps alot in reducing the haze and mist and any pixel noise – from high ISO.
Ralph Olsson
Fantastic work mate…especially the lack of editing…so well done:)
LocustFurnace replied
Thanks man.
The stacking of images as in this case helps to remove ISO noise. The STACK is a technique used by astro-photographers, to clean up pixel noise and separate it from the stars.
Ralph Olsson
That is so cool…learn something each time i talk to you! :)
Rebecca Bryson
Excellent! love the depth perspective, looks very cold too haha!
LocustFurnace replied
Thank you,
I bet the water was cold, but not too bad outside that day, around 20F.
Kristina K
wow, what a view, and a fab angle to show the whole falls, well done :)) k
LocustFurnace replied
Thank you Kristina!
Yes most of my shots of the falls are from within a few feet. But this was from a a half-mile away. So it definitely helped with framing being so far away.

I love the wonderful range of natural colours and tonal quality of this beautiful image. The DOF is most excellent. Congratulations on your feature in the ALL COUNTRIES – Streams, Brooks, Creeks, Rivers, Ponds & Lakes group!

WOW,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, your creative work is very powerful. You really do have a wonderful eye for whats special. I can tell you have fun at it too….congrats on a superb Gallery..
LocustFurnace replied
Thank you David.
It is fun -though I enjoy the technical aspect of photography slighter more than the creative/artistic side. There are always a lot of different “roads” to photography as well, so there is ample room to enjoy photography.
shanghaiwu
this is amazing/takes some while for the eyes to adjust as seems a collection of images/BUT BRILLIANT
LocustFurnace replied
Thank you!
It is a single subject shot, but various images overlayed to help remove issues like ISO noise and lack of shadows/highlights.

I have this a little more frozen ; ) Must’ve been there a few days after you.
LocustFurnace replied
Very cool, seen your shots in your gallery.
I live a few miles from Letchworth, often the roads to the park are shut down in bad weather. Was and will likely still go this week. Since all the snow has melted which should increase the water flow. Last time I went a few weeks ago, forgot my camera waterproof cover so couldn’t get too close to the falls due to all the misting.

Incredible

Thanks Christine!
