Progression

I took this shot of the railway behind the Rail Depot. The effect is a progressive expression from B&W photography towards color photography.

Still speechless over this one, baby. I couldn’t decide between the colour shot or the sepia version, either. The way you’ve intermingled them is fabulous!!

Thats REALLY cool. i love the color in this

  • LocustFurnace replied

    Thank you.
Sometimes I like both, the desaturated and the colorized versions. But I don’t want to submit 2 of the same subject. So this was a nice compromise.

Yes it does. I’d imagine it would make an interesting train ride if such where possible.

You have to stop this, i can’t keep changing my mind!!!! Phew! Just a ripper shot and work mate…

  • LocustFurnace replied

I know. It is a tough call. I could do a stereograph I guess. Left side being color and right side sepia.

  • Ralph Olsson

  • cheerishables

    cheerishables

Absolutely amazing…a work of art! I love your use of selective coloring in this shot, the blending of the black and white gradually into the color. Really sets a mood. This is proudly featured in the Selective Coloring Group.

  • LocustFurnace replied

    Thank you very much!
This is a result of being unable to decide on which I liked better, a colorized version or a B&W/sepia version. So I thought why not use both, and use the tracks to pull the viewer further, deeper into the shot. Plus to express my own personal enjoyment of first having learned B&W photography, and today its far easier to do color than it was before.

  • cheerishables

    cheerishables

Yes, keeping the tracks black and white is really effective in leading the eye into the photo into the colorful background… also the black and white soft framing fo the clouds, surrounding the intense blue and white clouds is really quite interesting and unique… and makes you want to stare. It’s gorgeous!

this image seriously left me speechless dude, its just awesome.
Looks liek it should be an album cover for a metal band :)

  • LocustFurnace replied

    Thanks alot!
This shot was more of an after thought. As I was really wanting to just shot the Depot.
Once I processed it, couldn’t decided if I liked the color version or the B&W version. So simple solution was to use both.

  • Khollen Orion MacGillivray

    Khollen Orion ...

    and it looks totally awesome
i’ve noticed that a lot of my shots seem to turn into something else once i start to process them, something else always catches my eye, and changes teh whole direction and meaning of the image, but its never let me down yet :)
