Taking A Breather by Scott Denny

I spent Memorial Day Weekend at the Horicon Marsh, near Horicon, Wisconsin. I shot for three days with one day spent shooting with fellow RB’ers Tim Denny (my dad) and Jeff Weymier.

Over the course of the three days I was able to get an assortment of shots to include the Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Red Wing Blackbirds, Blue Winged Teal, Canadian Goose, Barn Swallow, Mourning Dove, Painted Turtle, Muskrat, and more.

Although the weather and lighting was a little challenging it was still a great time taking photos of wildlife and birds.

This little Barn Swallow was takikng a breather from flying in the hot sun. These little fellas zoom right by you as they swoop bugs that fly over the surface of water.

Great color! So seldom that you see a barn swallow resting!!! Wonderful capture!

  • Thank you very much. It actually rested for quite a long time. It was not injured, just tired.

Hope you can visit again and view some of my other work.

Wow, i’ve never seen a bird peacefull outside of the sky, it almost looks like its meditating, nice focus too

  • Thanks. This little fella was rather winded. He sat there for a good 2-3 minutes with no intention on leaving. Some people walked up to him and then he took off. I dont know whether he was hot or maybe knocked heads with one of his buddys while zooming through the air.
