Talk about a skilled fella. This White Pelican is showing us his kung fu skills by illustrating the infamous Crane Kick made famous by Ralph Macchio in the movie Karate Kid.

I dont know how long a White Pelican lives. The Karate Kid came out in 1984. I am guessing the White Pelican must have rented the DVD or something.

I am sure Mr Miyagi would be proud.

Taken at the De Pere dam near Green Bay, Wisconsin.

great title Scott! lol. beautiful close up… huh… the thing on the beak, what is the fonction exactly?

  • I did a little reading on it. It is a growth they have in the spring/summer during mating season. I am guessing it is something like horns or antlers. It must be something that displays maturity or greatness….I am guessing. I understand it goes away later in the year. Thanks for your comment.
