This is of one of the two remaining Mexican Wolves at the Brookfield Zoo, just outside of Chicago, IL.
The three wolves that were at the zoo last winter were brothers, all from the same pack. A few weeks back one of the brothers died from a form of lymphnoma. It bummed me out a bit.
The two remaining brothers are schedule to be transferred to a location in Missouri. The Brookfield Zoo is to add a pack of eight as the replacement of the brothers.
The Mexican Wolve is still very endangered and zoos like the Brookfield Zoo and Minnesota Zoo participate in programs to help increase numbers and prepare the wolves to be reintroduced in the wild.
