The Greatest Gift Ever!!

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, the night much of the world will begin the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Commercialism continues to push the focus on Jesus less and the focus on gift giving, Santa Clause, drinking, partying, and materialism more and more.

Still you will hear people say – “Keep Christ in Christmas” and “Jesus is the reason for the season”. When I think about the later, Jesus is the reason for the season, I wonder just how many people truly understand the reason Jesus was born.

Jesus, the Son of God, was born because God gave him to the world – us. God gave Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice for all of mankind’s sin and through belief in Christ mankind’s sins could be justified. By being justified by God’s grace through Jesus Christ, we, all of mankind, would have t…

Choose You This Day

The US Constitution’s 1st Amendment reads:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

A group from Madison has concluded the following:

“prayer at government meetings is unnecessary, inappropriate and divisive,” the Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation has written to Board Chairman Guy Zima, urging him to discontinue the prayer before board meetings.

“We still think prayer offends some people. … The best course of action is to drop (prayer) altogether,” said Rebecca Markert, senior staff attorney for the foundation. “Gove…

Power In His Name

This is copied from a Facebook Wall posting I did on 2-2-12.

In the book of Luke 12:51 Jesus tells us that he did not come to earth to bring peace but to divide. Jesus does provide peace yet at the same time the power in his name, who he was as he walked the earth and who he is today, the never changing Son of God creates division.

Luke 12:51-53
Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

Accepting the fact that Jesus is the Son of God that desires t…

Died, Not Dead

The other day I saw a bumper sticker that read; Jesus Died For Us.

I was very pleased to see the bumper sticker, as I wholeheartedly believe the statement made on the sticker. Almost as fast as my mind acknowledged that I agree that Jesus did die for us, I had another thought…

I thought, man you hear this a lot, the acknowledgement that Jesus died for mankind, for our sins, because he loved us. All of these things I believe to be absolute truth yet my mind wandered on yet another thought.

My immediate thought was envisioning all the pictures, jewelry, etc that depicts Christ dead on the cross. I thought, yes he did die but he is not dead.

The Enemy would love to twist the fact that Jesus died and is still hanging on a cross or rotted in the grave, that it all ended with Jesus’s death. …

Chameleon

I think one of the top challenges we as Born-Again Spirit Filled Christians face today is making sure we do not blend in. It is so easy to compromise the way we talk and the things we do that results in us not being distinctive.

Lyrics from a 1981 song from the group Petra, titled Chameleon

Chameleon – You blend with your surroundings
Chameleon – No one knows where you come from
Chameleon – You change with every situation
Compromising dedication

As Christians we are supposed to illuminate, to not just stand out, but represent the Light that all mankind needs to seek. Through what we say, how we speak, what we do, and where we hang out, we are supposed to represent Christ as he lives in us. Man it is so easy to get lost in this world and before you know it we look, sou…

Christmas - One Glorious Day

Every year, once a year, many will take time out to celebrate Christmas.

For many the focus will be a family get together, making sure Billy and Susie receive the toys they want, the stress about traveling to grandmas, eating until you’re ready to pop, watching football, or the loneliness of having no one to spend the day with.

The original intention of celebrating Christmas, the day we acknowledge the birth of Christ, has nothing to do with those things I mentioned.

The few will acknowledge the birth of Christ as a glorious day, but why?

Why was Christ born?

Jesus was born to live, to die, to rise, and to come again.

Who or what is Jesus coming back for?

He is coming for The Church.

Who is The Church?

The Church is those that have acknowledged that the only way to the Father, to God, to …

Give Thanks - The Sequel

My father (Tim Denny) has written a sequel, or extension, of the journal I have titled Give Thanks

His writing is a powerful one and surrounds a topic I have written about before – Gods impact on my life and how I strive to let the light of Jesus within me shine.

Bring The Rain – He Is Our Strong Tower

There is a song by Casting Crowns titled Does Anybody Hear Her. Each and every time I hear it I think of my sister and my brothers. Christ is a choice yet as much as a person chooses not to follow and depend on Christ, the world we live in is a fast lane and it is very easy to get hung up on what the world ha…

Give Thanks

As Thanksgiving Day approaches and most likely while we sit around the table with our family and friends, many of us will take the time to express our thanks for all the great and wonderful things that happened to us and/or our families in the past year. Sadly there are some that do not even take the time to thank God for the good and wonderful things he does for us every day. This year God has placed a different message on my heart that I would like to share with all of you.

James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

James 1:12
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, becaus
