I am amazed! This is just fabulous! Best image of Rhodies I have ever seen.
Hi Marjorie – thanks very much! :) Actually they’re Brown Shavers, a light weight breed derived from the lovely old Rhodies and used extensively in New Zealand as commercial layers. Placid little birds (like their big cousins), and lovely pets. I rescue them from free range egg farms after they have laid their first season of 320-ish eggs. Poor little things are fairly worn out by then, but let them recover and grow new feathers and they go on and on. They have a nice life in my back yard. Cheers. Lynne
