Yesterday I told my 20 year old daughter, as she sat ,upset that her hair wasn’t hanging right and complaining about her wide shoulders, that she can be assured that most anyone over the age of 40 looks at youngsters as if they are young gods and goddess’s because they have their youth. Now most older adults would never admit to this, but they more than likely think this way. I told her that after the age of 40 you think back to the little things you used to complain about and they seem so very small and, well, stupid compaired to things that we would like to complain about now. My mom tried to explain this to me but it never quite sunk in untill now. At the age of 45 I realize that no matter how hard we try to convey that message to our youth they are never going to get it and maybee that’s for a reason, I’ll never know.

Great persepctive Lisa Marie. I am now 43 and whilst I still get a little insecure about my looks am so much more free than I used to be. The other thing too is that the more freedom we give the issue of looks the less stress we seem to inject into our system. This then seems to improve how we look anyway. I get so many young women coming into my studio who are so dependant upon being validated for their looks that they just cannot relax. Really takes away the beauty of the gift in my opinion.

Yes, it’s a shame that youngsters cannot relax when it comes to their looks, maybee because of the damn media. I notice that the cooler the city and the closer the city is to the beach, the harsher the rules for popularity become. My daughter lives in Huntington Beach, Ca. and is beautiful. She’s a part time bathingsuit model and still she goes into these lapses of insecurity.
What’s realy odd is she will tell me that she wishes she was as pretty as I was when I was her age. She is much more prettier than I was at 20, (not bragging, just proving a point) so what is up with that. I just don’t get it..

I love your perspective on this matter, as a young mother of an eleven year old daughter, its funny how your views change on appearance matters…...I’m only twenty seven, and I feel such anger at society in general sometimes for putting these false notions of what beauty is into these young women.—Despite this, these stereotypes of what is considered attractive have been thrust apon women since the beggining of time I suppose…...

I understand completely. I have a 12 year old daughter. She’s started posting to RB too, her nickname is ‘AzukiDashi’,
see her art here: •AzukiDashi
I consider my daughter precious and beautiful. If they know their parents love them that helps them through a lot of issues I feel.
Lisa you like very pretty at 45….what we can see of you behind that ‘stache’ . lol
Keep posting, I like your work!

Thank you for taking a look at my work again. I saw your daughters work, i’t’s cute and she seems very grown up as she wrote her bio. May I say It is only just starting…the drama, the beauty of seeing her grow and what she’ll grow into.
