That pretty much sums up the reaction I had to the letter. 127 entries, 22 chosen to go to the next round of judging. My work, Crossings, was chosen. YYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY! haha

I heard the news today that I’ve won the 2008 Gili Award for Academic Excellence by an indigenous student from the Department of Education and Training!

My deepest thanks to head teacher of Newcastle Art School, John Morris, for nominating me. I’m still in shock at the news.

Well, we got the “recently…” exhibition up today! 99% of it anyway.. A few minor things are needed here and there, cleaning the walls after my scrupulous measuring techniques laden them with all sorts of lines and paraphernalia, getting the vinyls up and looking all slick and cool, and da duh duh dummmm.. the catalogues. My apologies for the lack of new work of late. It has been a maniacal time, coming into final assessments for the year, plus lots of group shows, and many, many all nighters madly, madly getting work ready.

It will be over soon though! We’ll be all finished up after Thursday, and what a HUGE relief that will be, though a little sad at the same time.
