Taken May 15, 2012. When honey bees dive deep inside flowers they often find themselves a bit stuck. They will wriggle and wriggle to get out. Sometimes they go from side to side trying to gain movement and their struggle is very obvious. I often lift the flower to assist them as I’m photographing. The picture in the right lower corner was snapped just as the honey bee made her last push to free herself from the flower. She had my finger to rest on. What will happen is these little sweeties will push and struggle and then pop out of the flower and do a free fall! They’ll sometimes land on the flower below, while other times they free fall and then get their bearings and take flight.
