Nepal Street Dogs by Betsy Seeton

Currently unavailable for purchase

These were two street pups I photographed in Nepal. I saw many starving dogs during my time there.
Read about the Kathmandu Animal Center working to help the lives of all dogs in Nepal. I met the owner, Jan Salter, when I lived in Kathmandu. Jan is a well known artist throughout Nepal and the world over and best recognized for her book the “Faces of Nepal”.

Jan was born in Southampton, England. After travelling the world in the late 1960s and early 1970s she finally settled in Nepal. Salter was captivated by the variety she found in the country’s population, and before long she was walking the hill trails, drawing faces in pencil. The Kathmandu-based artist’s sketches were already widely appreciated when a few years ago she began to work in oils. Salter’s paintings and drawings of the people of Nepal are immediately recognisable for their truthfulness and soul. READ MORE ABOUT JAN AND THE DOG CENTER SHE FOUNDED

What a wonderful woman and organization.

  • I agree, Kay. Jan is very down to earth and making such a difference in the lives of animals in Nepal.
