Taken in September 2011. I was raised between the city and the mountains. Pictured are scenes where the best of my childhood was spent. I raised my children here, too. The elevation begins at 10, 000 feet. The roads are dirt and closed 6 months of the year due to snow. Winter temperatures will dip to 50 degrees below zero. Summer is very short — maybe two months. The mountains are in my blood. My mother cooked on a wood stove during our mountain life. As a child we didn’t have indoor plumbing, electricity, phones or television. I had a dog and many, many pets from wild ones to domesticated. I loved every kind of animal. My first oil paintings at the age of 9 were of 101 Dalmatian characters!
