Marmots are adorable. I’d like to learn more about them. This was taken August 23, 2010. I like capturing a feel for his environment. I often see them making a home in rocky areas like this. I tossed him a pecan and it bumped into his stomach and back onto the rock but he didn’t even look at the nut! I’ll have to go back sometime and see if a piece of fruit or veggie is more to his liking as an RB friend suggested..

“The indifference, callousness and contempt that so many people exhibit toward animals is evil first because it results in great suffering in animals, and second because it results in an incalculably great impoverishment of the human spirit. All education should be directed toward the refinement of the individual’s sensibilities in relation not only to one’s fellow humans everywhere, but to all things whatsoever.” ~Ashley Montague

Lovely…they have quite large paws…great for clambering over the rocks, I guess…

  • Thanks so much, Kratos. They do have large paws AND nails! I didn’t notice it so much in person, but I did in the photograph.
