She was an angel from heaven loaned for a while,
with long curly hair and a beautiful smile.
Her soul is around us every night, every day,
and for her daddy we would love her to stay.
For you see he still loves her but she’s never far,
for she’s there every night when he looks at that star.
She’s there every morning when his eyes start to wake,
she’s there all the time when he sees first day break.
She strokes his hair when he is asleep,
she wipes his tears when he has to weep.
“Do you feel me now dad, brushing past your ear?
“It’s a loving whisper to let you know I’m here”.
“Look after yourself live long and live free,
so once in a while I’ll come sit on your knee”.
For she is a Guardian Angel you see and as for her name,
she’s called ‘Kimberley’!
This poem is a memorial to my niece who I love so much. She passed away on 19 April 1997, she was only 5. She had Cerebral Palsy. My poem reflects how we feel when we loose someone close to our hearts, the love that we still have and the hope that there is an afterlife where our souls live on with everyone that we hold dear.
