The sun was warm and hovering high up in the afternoon sky. Book in hand I sat in the middle of the garden on my rather fetching, hot pink garden chair. I had every intention of settling down and spending the afternoon, lazily reading my book and listening quietly to my music. The large willow tree in our garden was alive with the sound of alarmed birds as my cat, sulked out of the cat flap and look up at me sheepishly. His weedy, mouse like meow agitated the birds further and the warm summer breeze blew the trees into a swaying motion. Above, two red kites circled each other, beating their large majestic wings only once every minute or so. I took a moment to look around, sucking in a breath and that sweet summer smell that lingered in the air. The garden was filled with nature’s fine song, and I came to realize exactly how full of life my garden really was. The flowers, the birds, even the hedgehog that lived in the corner. All of a sudden, they weren’t creatures in my world, I, was a creature in there’s. The events in my book, and the world I planned to throw myself into that afternoon became irrelevant. I wasn’t bothered about some fantasy world with dragons or spells, I was happy in the world I was in. I pulled my cat on to my lap and that afternoon, I admired the work of Mother Nature.
And as for the music?
Well, the only songs I listened to were that of the birds, and the purr of my cat.
It’s only very short, but hopefully sweet! Just a little bit of creative writing, if you smile, I’ve done my job! Enjoy!!
