Whats that strange thing in the bushes?

Met an elk today!!!!!! :D
It was a Sunday evening and as I said earlier I was sick :( As it turned out I was lucky to be sick because the others went to sauna and I thought that it wouldn’t be good for me, might catch a cold after. So I put on 2 pairs of pants :), warm jumper and a jacket and headed for the forest. I only got to walk 5 minutes when I saw a big elk right in front of me in the opening of the forest that I normally visit…Read more

To avoid the confusion – in Europe we call this animal Elk, in US it’s called Moose

The strange thing in the bushes is a snapper, Mr Elk!!! Great shot with him looking right at you! ;o)

  • Mariann Rea replied

:) Oh is that what it was! I thought there was a little birdie ;)

Great shot, how tall he is ?

  • Mariann Rea replied

I can only guess that probably 2 meters (6.6 feet) or less.
    Thanks for the comment.

Great series but it did confuse me a bit. In American that is a Moose. I see in Europe you call this an Elk. Here in America this is an Elk.

It is cool when you find differences in the world such as this. Great series of photos.

I wish one day I can come upon a Moose. I only saw one in the wild and it was too far to photograph.

  • Mariann Rea replied

:) Yes Scott, I can understand that it can be a bit confusing and I knew about it also. But I can’t do anything because it’s just how it is, here were have elk that you call moose.
Thanks for the kind words! I was happy to meet this fella also :)

Great capture – excellent DOF. The Canon 100 – 400 sure is a great lens.

Thank you so much! I’m quite pleased with this lens but there are better ones I’m sure ;) If only money would fall from the sky… lol
