Zen Like

Working in my vegetable patch
I feel the sun shine on my back
Made Zen like as
It soothes my spirit
I’m just content to be

Weeds are kept in
Certain places
To remind me of
Unconditional love

I try to grow as nature does
In harmony with
All living beings
Forgotten labels of society

I breathe in slow and deep
Smelling the Earth
And the herbs I planted
In her belly

I feel at one

It’s been a long time
But I’m back here
Back to basics

Feeling at home

I alsolutely love this, I am planning on being in our garden all day today, I think it’s great the way you have a special place for the weeds, I’ve actually thought of that many times. Unfortunately, my husband thinks there is only one place for weeds, and it’s his garden too.

  • It’s just so relaxing isn’t it being in the garden! I hope you have a lovely time out in yours today!! Maybe you might be able to keep a few sneaky weeds!! :)

You are a happy soul. I’m glad that you share your thoughts with us. Keeping it simple is the best way.

  • Yes definitely simple things are over looked a lot in modern society, it’s all about gadgets etc but you can’t beat a nice bit of gardening!! Thanks for reading!!

It’s back to the basics: happiness, work (a labor of love), to see growth from our hands and something to enrich our lives… plus the special place for the weeds. Great read!

  • Oh thanks so much for your comment :) and most of all thanks for reading!!

Love this poem Rachael!!!…I can just about smell the damp earth….unfortunately gardening season is a long way off here in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin. Go and turn over a shovel full for me. xxxMeg

My mother always recommended this particular type of cultivating harmony – you refrain the tip.
