Now this isn’t actually completely my creation…shock horror, no Lissy hasn’t been up to mischief :)) This is actually my 12 yr old daughter’s creation!!
She’s watched me intently over the last 18 months or so as I’ve got more and more into doing manipulations and using textures and asked me if she could have a go, so heart in my mouth, I let her loose with my photoshop elements, she chose the 3 animals herself, all from Newquay zoo, chose the background she liked and the texture and with just a little help from me on the tricky bits, she placed the animals where she wanted them and started using layer masks to blend the animals into the background and finally adding a texture and gradient map to bring it all together. All I did is give her verbal instructions on what to do and she completed the whole image in just under 2 hours! ….me thinks I am going to have some serious competition with her later! LOL (The title is her idea too!)

Me thinks your Daughter rules! Excellent work for a 12 yr old! You tell her how wonderful this is, very proud of her!

  • bless you Tina, I am so proud of her, she’s always been a fast learner when it comes to anything on the computer, and she knew already about the lasso tool and layer masks, but even I was shocked at how quick she picked it up!

An adorable gathering of wee little critters…all chilling out after their busy day of hunting down and eating other little critters who were a wee bit too chilled out to notice they were about to be supper! Great work here! love it!!

I agree with poly..you are in trouble LOL…Tell her she did a wonderful job!!! Awesome!!!!

  • serious trouble hahahaha scary how she just seemed to know what to do, she’s always been good at following instructions but this had me gobsmacked at how she just knew what to do! I aided her just a bit, but even with the shadows under the animals she did it exactly as I would…..I can see her asking to pinch my camera next LOL

Uhhhh, time to invest in a larger hard drive – you will be storing more files!! lolol
She did a great job Lissy! … I had a suspicion it wasn’t your work – some style differences – but excellent technical work!!! You must be a good teacher too!
    Tell her congrats!! ~ kim

  • hahaha I need to shift some more files off as it is, she’s been nagging me to have a go for weeks now, and normally sits by my side watching my every move. I did one a few days ago and talked her through every step I did, she asked loads of questions and told me that she knew quite a bit of what I was doing from what she’d learnt at school but I was still astonished at how easy she found it!

I really ought to pay more attention to the description….just noticed that Polly commented on how talented your daughter is! I am astonished! I really thought it was yours….how expertly she has blended everything! And the textures are perfect! She is a natural…just like her mom! I am VERY impressed…

  • she’s gone to bed one very proud young lady, and I’m seriously worried about my competition now hahaha
She’s a natural with the computer and finds understanding any computer programme easy once she’s got the basics, but even I wasn’t expecting to find her pick this up so fast! She was a bit heavy handed at first with her blending, until I showed her how to reduce her brush size and opacity the closer she got to the animals, and from then on she just listened and worked as I gave out instructions and sailed through it….damn scary!
