A visit to Twycross zoo recently had me in 2 minds as to what I thought about so many primates in glass houses. There was no doubt they were well cared for, but it just made me feel so sad that they weren’t in their natural habitat, so here’s my interpretation of one of the endangered Javan Langur monkeys that we saw looking rather wistful. Perhaps he was thinking of his perfect dreamland

  • thank you very much Kristi, it’s nice to be able to set them free albeit via my imagination :)

Lissy sometimes the sadness in an animals eyes is hard for me to deal with too! By instinct I feel they should be running free too! Youve created this little guy a wonderful place to be free, as Im sure it would rather be there than where it is! The colors are warming and beautiful! Most wonderful work!

  • thank you Tina, it was our first visit there, and I found it hard to deal with what I saw, but I’m also aware that they are very well cared for, and my daughter informs me they do their best to release back into the wild if at all possible.
For now I’m happy I’ve given this little endangered species a taste of freedom via my imagination :)

Grabbed the depths with me too Lissy ~ Actually hated the Zoo for it and won’t be returning at all ever as felt it hi lited the plight as previosly mentioned ~ If enough people see this image it can only heighten the dilemma..
Well pieced image Lissy and sentiments impactful
    Regards Rick

  • thank you Rick, I’m actually finding it quite difficult to process the images, I took a fair few, but each time I lifted my camera up to my eye it left me feeling so sad
