Chalky the cute little Yorkie terrier cross (possibly with a chihuahua), has just moved in next door to my mum and Rory the cat
Both my mum’s cat and the new neighbour were eyeing each other up through the fence, and Chalky was standing on his back legs trying to get a closer look at, not only the cat to wind him up and, who I was photographing at the time but also seemed intrigued by the large thing strapped to my eyeball that was taking his photo, so I took the opportunity and captured Chalky being a very cute nosey neighbour!!

  • aww thank you Polly, I met up with little Chalky on my birthday visit to my mum’s, such a cute little chap. Daughter amused me highly when she said ‘’mum you’ve just taken the neighbour’s dogs photo, did you ask permission and perhaps you should get a model release form’’!! LOL

These yorkie/chihuahua crosses are sweet little dogs. We met one at the beach once and it came right up to me and plonked itself in my lap. This is a stunning portrait. I love the background but especially love the lighting and detail on Chalky. A fave.

  • he was as cute as anything Maggie, but as much as the kids wanted to stroke him, I said not until we’ve aquainted ourselves a bit more with him. The cat was showing him who’s boss -being brave with a gate and fence between the two of them :)

Very wise! Our Hamish is gorgeous and gentle but he’s not very good at meeting new people, and we have to be careful and encourage people to let him come to them when he’s feeling a bit more sure of them and the situation.

  • my son is a little wary of dogs as it is, but got on famously with a friends border collie recently – so much so he said he wanted one of his own!
Chalky is used to seeing my mum, but our 3 faces peering at him over the gate was enough for him at the time to weigh us up a bit and get used to us

A sweet capture. Love the contrast between the soft muted background and the fine detail in this cutie’s face! Well done, Lissy!!!!
