This is my mum’s cat, Rory, originally a stray that my youngest sister took in a fair few years ago now, and he’s made himself perfectly at home with my mum! He pesters her to death around 5pm each day for his food, then once he’s full, off he roams. I managed to capture him just before suppertime and he was intently staring at his tin of food and wondering why this mad woman was trying to take his photo!
The little creature on the floor who was busy filling his face, was my daughter’s beloved Chinese dwarf hamster, Stripe. He wasn’t with us for long, before he passed on, but he was a well loved member of our household, and I just felt I needed to create something in memory of our little hamster, as well the old stray that has lived in great comfort with my mum for a number of years now :))

You have done a superb job on this one lissy you must be so proud of this one i would be :)

  • cheers my old mate, I am really pleased at how this came out. The original photos were nothing to shout out about, but I could see a story in it, and I just let my brain and a bit of digital painting do the rest :)

  • hahaha I do love your comments Polly :)))
My brain seems to be flowing with ‘stories’ rather than what to photograph, in fact it was thanks to my daft mum asking Rory if he wanted his photo taken when I was moaning to her down the phone that I’d just lost all inspiration! So next day off I toddle down to her house, timing it so that I knew he’s want his food, got 3 photos, none of them brilliant enough for a portrait, but this one I knew exactly what to do with and I love how it came out :))
