Still down Friar street in Worcester very early on a Sunday morning in May, yet another watering hole from my youth (New St, and Friar St are littered with them!)
Again I felt a little aging just added to the feel of these old buildings so added a slight texture courtesy of ShadowHouse Creations

M & B chain still going then Lissy ~ spent 25 years in the trade as a field engineer for Bulmers/Bass/Carlsberg and finally Guinness and so remember the trade being at its peak but now sadly downtrodden by prices and greed on the part of the major Breweries….
Great stride down memory lane this ~ Thanks
    Rick

  • I presume they’re still going Rick, in fact as I was uploading this, I noticed on another photo (perhaps an upload for another day) that another of the pubs in this area also is a M&B. It’s very sad at how many very long established public houses and breweries have fallen, some in my city have been trading for 100s of yrs and now are they struggling to survive. It’s a heck of a stride – or in my case back then , wobble, down memory lane :))

Another belting street shot brilliantly edited.

  • cheers (no pun intended) Paul:))) LOL sorry, couldn’t resist!! Think I might venture down to town again one Sunday morning, while everyone else is nursing their hangovers from the night before it leaves me free to do what I like in peace

What a great English street this is! Nicely cleared of people so we can marvel at it as it is. Beautiful, vintage processing Lissy!

  • it’s a lovely little street, full of expensive shops though, but some decent pubs and a couple of museums. 8.30 on a Sunday morning, guaranteed to have the place almost to myself :))

Nice work and write-up. Not sure I’d want to be inside that building in the middle!

  • thank you Carl, the building in the middle actually houses 2 shops! I’ve not been in either, as one is an expensive clothes shop and the other is Anja Potz jewellery designer – although I do have one of her designs, a beautiful little silver photo frame, given to me on my wedding day by my uncle :)
