Another little cheat, but you try finding a subject for the letter X! Sorting through my old bureau recently I came across letters dating back 30 odd years from an old Australian pen-pal, as well as letters my husband used to write to me when we first started seeing one another 14 years ago this month. It got me wondering in this day and age of all things email and Internet, will my 2 children ever have the joy and embarrassment of going through old letters for a few hours and reminiscing. Going through old emails doesn’t quite have the same ring to it does it! xxx

Fantastic work Lissy. Reminds me of the letters I recieved whilst away in the Navy.
thank you Don, I spent a good few hours reading them all, some making me cringe, some laugh and some cry…all good stuff xxx

Wow, this is fantastic, Lissy! True, emails just are not the same as good ol’ snail mail. I think it was often the anticipation of getting a letter, then reading it over and over…..
thank you Chris, when I think back on all the letters I was writing at my daughters age, and I don’t think she’s written more than a handful. Such a shame because it’s such a wonderful feeling seeing a letter come through the post. These days it seems nothing more than bills and junk mail!

That is a nice piece of nostalgia and beautifully created.
thank you very much

I agree with “bricks” about the email being no replacement for a real letter from a friend or loved one.
think I shall have to start getting my 2 children to write letters more often, they love creating stories and have great imaginations, so at least they haven’t lost the use of writing by hand yet
