Detail from J.W Waterhouse's 'The Charmer' by

A drawing using graphite pencils and white chalk, on paper, of Brizo from J.W Waterhouse’s painting; ‘The Charmer’. In Greek mythology, she is a goddess known for her skill in charming and soothing and so was worshiped for the protection of mariners. Food offerings were set before the goddess in little boats; in Waterhouse’s painting she sits at the water’s edge charming the fish with her lyre. In my drawing I wanted what she is gazing at to remain a mystery, I also tried to make her look ethereal as Brizo answered questions about navigation and fishing in people’s dreams.
