Wahine Disaster anniversary
I have just watched the chilling footage of the Wahine Disaster which occured on 10th April 1968. It was a passenger ferry which sank on Barret’s Reef on the Wellington Coast, at Seatoun, in a terrible storm.
The footage took me back to a few days ago while on the coast, when I took these photos. Although not the same spot, the familiar jagged rocks lie right round the coast.

Lisa: Freaking storms is nothing new; as you point out. However, they used to be a rare occurance?

Good point Dave, hope we don’t have anything too freak here in Wellington in the near future.
