About the Artwork
The basis of my practice is to investigate the possibilities of painting as a medium, whilst attempting to find a special balance between abstraction and figuration.

The forms and marks witnessed within these paintings are developed from ongoing watercolour and gouache studies of shop windows; these are not intended to be preliminary sketches for my oil paintings, but are rather used to develop an inner vocabulary of line, form, composition and space
that can be translated into the oil paintings.

The resulting composition, combining these two elements together [abstract paint process and figurative elements of the shop window] appears to allude to a peculiar alternative reality where forms will balance upon others or strange objects appear awkwardly.

Biography
Lisa V Robinson is an emerging contemporary painter currently based in Westgate Studios in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. In 2008 she graduated from Manchester School of Art, gaining first class honours in BA Fine Art Painting. Her work has been selected for the 2009 Joan Day painting bursary, which involves holding her first solo exhibition at the South Square Gallery in Bradford.
