Dream

Do you say reality is your refuge?

I say paint flowers in the sky
Pick the sky and plant beneath your feet

Run amuck in thunderstorms
Kick stones till your feet weep

Day dream Babylon wonder dances
Paint garden frescos, citywide

Exercise the unreality
Cease to exist in refuge

Fly the red flag
Dare the bull head on

I say reality is our cage

100% agreed here Lisa … sometimes I wonder if reality is our escape from the TRUE reality. If you have ever worked with altered states of consciousness in a big way … you start to wonder if what we think is real really is.

YESSS!! Lisa – we so agree. Responding to imagination – paint outside the lines.
Drives me crazy that people will wear the same suit and tie every day.
Lisa – - in a black and white photo – you would stand out in color!!

Here is one of hundreds of quotes I wrote some time ago which I think fits here Lisa…love this!

“Inevitability takes time yet time is inevitable. Perception clouds reality just as reality clouds perception.
All that is, is so, if only by partiality to preconceived notion and of suppositional adherence to apparent and inconspicuous inclination.
That we do not know that which we do not know are we therefore limited and thus relegated to live by possibility alone.”

Lovely Lisa Lionheart… truer words were never written. I use to be proud to think that I lived outside that cage and yet now I find it binds me so constrictively that sometimes I almost cant breathe. These words are a slap in the face for me, delivered by a beautiful and loving hand.

I don’t think we forget to dream…as much as we forget to remember
what we have dreamed. ;) And those that cannot forget reality..
I think, are the ones that think they don’t dream. I dream in technicolour!
And I live in a world where reality clashes with the bizarre and surreal.
    Great poem!

In writing as well we escape reality and there is no need for practicality… In a dream we can be anything, do anything, think of anything…

Reality is only what we comprehend, and therefore a partial truth. In fact, it is a lie, for truth cannot be parcelled out if it is to remain truth. To dream is to allow our imaginations to fill in the voids, if not bringing us closer to truth than at least allowing us the comfort of a healthy balance by choosing lies that are thoughtful and entertaining.

  • Lisa Jewell replied

Sometimes reality is too much to comprehend…and that is the type of reality I refer to in this.
Perhaps instead of trying to analyse reality to death with no satisfying answer. One can spend their time dreaming….

    Dreaming is my preferred reality….

    thanks Joe xx

I agree Lisa. Absolutely! Reality is all a dream, what we see and feel is imagination manifest physical. We are not only subject to our own but that of others. To imagine a better, a brighter reality (dream) is our subconscious (and conscious) taking control, with proper focus, for the better. As our friend Poe questioned so eloquently: “Is all we and seem but a dream within a dream?”

  • Lisa Jewell replied

Your thoughtful comments warm me….I agree with you and love to ponder Poe…xxx

ahhhhh ur thoughts … what a beautiful mind you have lisa…. i think reality is what we make of it so its both depending on the person :) damn why do i have to be so pragmatic … i just want to be an optimist like you :)

  • Lisa Jewell replied

Oh tis okie because between you and me….so keep it quite. I’ve a very strong rational/pragmatic mind as equal as strong as my dreamer/romantic one. I wrote this piece sometime ago. It was more a reminder to those caught in the harshest of reality, that with the power of their dreamers mind they can escape the reality….

Naturally, I’m a champion of changing a harsh reality into a beautiful one….unfortunately that is not always possible or at the very least take a great deal of time…so in the meanwhile take comfort in dreaming….

“Reality is our cage”.....and sometimes finding the door of that cage has obstacles.. The urge that this creates to just be unrestrained in the full potential of the positive possible is uplifting for me this morning….anything could happen today me thinks….watch out day here I come: : >) XXXX

  • Lisa Jewell replied

hehe Gorgeous, I can see you taking on the day….I know it is going to be a stunner…just like you.

One of the best I have read of yours, possibly because I myself relate to the reality/cage thing, but you got some killer lines in here….run amuck in thunderstorms, kick stones til your feet weep…. (I will never spell it amok ever again)

I think Reality is a very convenient term because it keeps so many tame. But I’m sure what we experience is only the tip of the iceberg.

  • Lisa Jewell replied

You’ve got me to thinking about what piece of writing do I consider my best and I could not escape going to a piece that I like the best…here

There is no question we live and dream the tip of the iceberg….

thanks Jim always nice to receive a comment from you.

my head has always been in the clouds. wuite literally really! I have been chastized many times for being a (said like it’s a dirty word) dreamer.
