washing, a line broken wears different in new light

she slipped out of her original sin overcoat
beneath the coat
she wore a knitted turtle neck fortified with pain
weaved from her ankles to the roundness of her stomach a pair of no enter pants
satin safety gloves housed her bosom
silk tickled a memory of touch between her thighs

into a mix of blood and bone
she
washed away
the slow heartache train

chanting
a beatification
no surrey travelled the dirt road of forgiveness

pegged to a new breeze
and a lean into her light
she ascended

unpegging each crisp penance
she
no longer
wore herself
the same

washing, a line broken wears different in new light
