Nostalgic tales come back to life with new love

Inspiration for this piece.

Sitting on the back step tracing the thick thatched ivy pattern, just as I was about to go back inside I heard 3 female voices from next door. I felt rude for listening but I could not drag myself away from their conversation and my imagination.

Nostalgic tales come back to life with new love belongs to the following groups:

Core [C.O.R.E], Freedom to Shine, Reaching Freedom and Woman Appreciation

On the back step of my new life
I sat and traced the creeping ivy
revising sequestered princess fables
smiling and crying with myself
three next life voices
sliced through the ivy
One recounted her latest abroad trip
two laughed applause

Silently, I joined in
pretending to be d’Artagnan
we rode off, now four
on a life and death quest
the One changed course
directing us to a stage door
“lets sojourn in the theatre of Eros
and watch nostalgic tales of love come back to life”

The now three thrilled with the thespian interlude
checked their soul spots with the cloak mistress
the One raised her glass of champagne
“lets toast to old love”
We three did not disagree
Clinking crystal glasses
produced a chorus of dancing fractals
across the red velvet walls

A bell alerted act one was about to begin
we four followed the dancing fractals
to a baroque lined box
fishbone gowns pinched our waists
the One sighed momentarily dropping her mask
revealing her true identity
she placed a finger to my lips
I turned away from her pool eyes

The curtain slowly lifted
exposing a circular stage
four actors held ancient poses
for the entire first act
the One spoke in a hush
“hold your stare
it is their stillness we have come to watch”
we three dropped our masks to the floor

revealing our true identities
there had never been the One
neither the three
there had always been just me

I visualised the ivy, the masks being held by the little sticks and heard the swishing of the fabric in your dresses, then the swoosh as the curtain lifted…...watched you all in soft ambient light up on your balcony…......then saw you seated there like Cinderella herself in the grand finale…
