I am an illustrator based in Melbourne, Australia. I studied graphic design but did not follow that path – instead I have been busy for the past 15 years creating quirky, charming characters for publishers, advertising and design agencies. My illustrations have appeared in books, greeting cards, magazines, festivals, posters, packages, tee shirts, tea cups and even framed on walls in galleries!
I like to get a bit messy when creating my art – scribbling, smudging and blending dry pastel and pencil on paper or on canvas with acrylics with the aim of preserving the spontaneous drawn line.
I love to illustrate all sorts of things, but left to my own devices, my recurring motifs include clouds, cats, city buildings, striped items of clothing and flowers – these are a few of my favourite things. Themes are a meld of memories, observations, overheard snippets of conversations, dreams, thoughts feelings and songs…one, some or all of can become one moment in an image.
