Taken at the island of Jost van Dyke, British Virgin Islands. I was just setting up for a beautiful sunset and wait for the light when a heron landed straight into my frame. I couldn’t believe it, then I was just hoping the bird could sit still for 1 sec. It did and so it became a special moment watching the bird and it’s beautiful surroundings. Camera used: Nikon D80, f16, 1sec, iso 800, 26mm.

Beautiful sunset with the Heron there.

  • Thank you, I had it set to 1 sec and the sunset was beautiful, then out of nowhere the heron landed right in my sight, amazing, I just wanted it to stand still for the second.

Excellent Leon. Beautiful hues. The heron caps it all very well. Beauty

  • Thanks a lot Don, as you can see I was playing with a longer exposure and that is why I didn’t really want a moving object in the frame but the heron played along nicely.
