Colliding Worlds
Liminal spaces, doorways, gateways, worlds folded softly like fabric briefly touching, learning, perhaps even crossing over? The old mother-earth religion (represented by the Oak/Duir tree) melding with the newer paternal religion (represented by the arched doorway). The lamp-post perhaps guiding/lighting the way. OR – perhaps, just a strengthening of the Gothic arches – a reflection of architectural technology! Who knows?
(Check out Folding Space Theory!!) ;o)
This idea originally arose from a project on transmogrification or metamorphosis – the tree becomes building becomes tree becomes …..... gateway.
After a suggestion from Don, I have reworked this image. I now have at least 10 on my computer, but have decided to go with this one!

Thank you Maggie. I appreciate your stopping by. Sorry if you got the image as well as the journal – but – RB seems in such disarray at the moment, either you don’t get an image and/or get 4 of the same one. Most odd!! Again, thank you.
Antanas

Thank you Antanas. I am learning more and more with the help of some wonderful people.

Thank you Don. Your recommendations as to adding the drawn layer worked a treat. ( actually used Brush Strokes/ Ink Outlines, plus a desaturated sepia, cut out and repasted the dead weeds upping the saturation etc and overlaid with an inverse image of raindrops on a window!

Oh yes, the warmer tones and just lovely and the whole treatment is just perfect – it’s lovely to see the development of this image into this work of art. I had to come looking for this because it sure didn’t show up in my monitor! But then as you said, there’s a great deal of disarray – your comment didn’t show up in the monitor either!

Thank you Lianne. Lovely to hear from you.

Oh… no..
they do not collide.
You see… the tree is like matter wishing to spiritualize and the temple’s door is like spirit wishing to materialize… and the lampost is the consciousness light that is needed for that
“alchemy”.
The result is really experimental….rewarding..special,Lin
Rosa (have a hug… warm one)

Hello Rosa.
Perhaps the wrong word (colliding) more liminal spaces, doorways, gateways, thinning veils, worlds like folded fabric touching each other, learning.
The old mother-earth religion (represented by the Oak/Duir tree) crossing-over with the newer paternal religion (represented by the arched doorway). I have been (gently) criticised for using a church door. The lamp-post indeed guiding the way – I wanted the light in the tree but for some reason it just didn’t look right – perhaps I should try candles?
Thank you Rosa for your visit. I look forward to your insights – you have a magical way with words – often saying what I cannot verbally express.
And a hug for you too – Lindsay

a remarkable creation. completely beautiful. I love the way things melt together. the branches have an almost painterly quality, the way they flow. wonderful textures. this reminds me of death and a sense of different consciousness flowing into each other. a feeling of change or transformation
linskudd replied
Thank you John, for your comment. I love to read other people’s thoughts and ideas on images. Sometimes, when you make an image, you are thinking consciously along one line, but other nuances creep in. I can “see” what you are saying about death and/or a change of consciousness. It has to do with doorways, I think, particularly church doors – so many life-changing events beyond them! ;o) Thank you again.
