Soap Opera... by linmarie

Soap painting… a technique I have not done in a few years…it was fun to let go tonight.. I created 5 different backgrounds with this technique.. letting dry.. this one struck me.. to embellish more on it.. dried it with a blow dryer to get to the stage to draw in black lines with paint pen..
recipe for soap painting…original is 5 1/2″ × 10 1/2" on artist white poster board!

1 large square pizza pan with edges..
spread common dish soap inside bottom of pan until covered
do not worry about bubbles.. they can be added fun and texture…
start splattering and dabbing slightly watered down acrylic paints over the soap..
smear, or pick pan up to a tilt and let flow…which I did with this piece..
let rest…
place pre-cut paper.. or artists poster board face down on wet paint..
smooth gently with light pressure across until paper is making contact with mixture..
gently pull up one corner and pull away… let dry…
when this dried.. with a little help from my friend the hair dryer..
I went at the shapes with a paint pen…. the rest is history…
created 12/17/2012
yeah.. linmarie is creating again♥

I am a self taught artist and have drawn and painted since I could hold crayons or a pencil in my hands..
My brain is an attic filled with treasures yet to be explored or recreated.. I am a Veteran,a wife, a mom, a grandmother, a sister, a daughter and a teacher!!! My pallet is full of life, color and energy.. I hope you will see and feel that in all of my artwork.

    Super creative! I love the freedom of the result as though you are breaking through any boundaries. Sandy

  • thank you Sandy.. I did four more pieces.. had done 2 on white backgrounds, and 2 on black backgrounds.. now I can go back to those and figure out what I want to embellish on them if anything.. will give me pieces to work on while this weather holds me inside!!!!
