St. Lawrence County, NY ice storm!!!
Just one of the first shots I got minutes from losing power yesterday, 01/13/2012 as the ice and snow came over us.. Yes an ice storm,, nothing compared to the one that hit us in January 1998. That one took power from folks for up to 28 days.. this one.. 14,000 people without power for 7 hours.. hmmmmmmmmm,, 7 hours.. there is that number 7 again..
I took this one in our back yard 10 min’s after losing power,, and it was an hour into the heavy, wet snow falling on top of the ice we got over night..
You can see the trees falling over and limbs hanging to the ground.. and it kept getting worse..
My sister who lives 10 miles away never lost power,, my adult children all live 12 miles away and lost their power.. it was very strange how the pattern of outages were..
We are campers and survivors. and I was prepared. when Hubby got home after his long drive home in the slush in wind 4 1/2 hours drive.. chicken and dumplings were on the stove and hot coffee awaited and my welcoming arms for a hug he got home safe..

I am a self taught artist and have drawn and painted since I could hold crayons or a pencil in my hands..
My brain is an attic filled with treasures yet to be explored or recreated.. I am a Veteran,a wife, a mom, a grandmother, a sister, a daughter and a teacher!!! My pallet is full of life, color and energy.. I hope you will see and feel that in all of my artwork.

When we lose power, we are totally lost!! if it stays out very long, we have to go somewhere…. we don’t have a fireplace or anything… only electric heat… I’ve never been camping, but i did spend a night in the back of a pickup truck when i was a teenager…. does that count?

  • ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are to funny,, I guess it counts as long as everyone stayed warm and came out alive,, teeheeheee, thanks for the smiles sis.. we are fine and hanging in there,, hugs♥
