Treasures from the Airman's Heart... by

edited with PSE 8 from my own photo stock using a paint affect.

This is dedicated to my husband Jeremy!

These are treasures from Greece.. bought by my husbands father while serving in the Air Force in the early 60’s.. treasures he brought home to his wife and parents and now have been handed down to his oldest son.
You see this wonderful man was taken away at an early age of 34, leaving his young wife to raise two boys 10 and 6 at the time..
She never married again, raised her wonderful sons to become amazing partners, fathers, grandfathers, and hard working men.
As I gently set up this still life today, moving around the pieces over and over again and carefully keeping them away from the edges.. I was startled with a loud thump.. my heart stopped!
I turned around wondering what our Siamese cat Hershey was up to and had knocked over.. he was sound asleep on the back of our couch.
But laying on the floor just behind me was the TV remote, it had been sitting in my husbands recliner, not on the arm, not on the edge, in the middle of the chairs seat. The hairs on my neck stood up and I had goosebumps up and down my arms. and I spoke out loud.
" It’s ok Jerry ( my husbands father) I am taking care to be so gentle and safe with these beautiful pieces."
I have goosebumps again thinking about the experience as I write this and maybe it was my grandmother whom lived and died in this home… in her stern way letting me know I better take care of these treasures.
So this has been a very spiritual day for me as the ice storm hit us early in the day and the heavy snow is now falling over the layers of ice. Another day to mark in my diary for 01/12/2012..
I just realized as I wrote this date, my father passed away 01/14/1979.. close to the anniversary of his death 33yrs.ago. The angels are with me!

I am a self taught artist and have drawn and painted since I could hold crayons or a pencil in my hands..
My brain is an attic filled with treasures yet to be explored or recreated.. I am a Veteran,a wife, a mom, a grandmother, a sister, a daughter and a teacher!!! My pallet is full of life, color and energy.. I hope you will see and feel that in all of my artwork.
